I Believe in Me…???
1. The World and Its Problems Can Be Overwhelming. (Matthew 17:14-15, Hebrews 10:32, Ephesians 6:11-12)
Hebrews 10:32, Remember the earlier days when, after you had been enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings.
Ephesians 6:11-12, Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.
2. Believing in Yourself Can Be Deceptive and Is Not Enough to Overcome Spiritual Challenges. (Matthew 17:16-20a, Acts 19:13-16)
Acts 19:13-16, Now some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists also attempted to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I command you by the Jesus that Paul preaches!” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this. The evil spirit answered them, “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul—but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them, overpowered them all, and prevailed against them, so that they ran out of that house naked and wounded.
3. Even a “Little” Faith in Jesus is Better than a “Mountain” of Faith in You. (Matthew 17:20, Mark 9:28-29, Jeremiah 17:5, Joel 2:27, James 5:16)
Mark 9:28-29, After he had gone into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” And he told them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer.”
Jeremiah 17:5, This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts in mankind. He makes human flesh his strength, and his heart turns from the LORD.
Joel 2:27, You will know that I am present in Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and there is no other. My people will never again be put to shame.
James 5:16, Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
