Three Cheers for God
Ephesians 4:1-6
1. Make Your Walk Fitting of Your Lord. (Vs. 1-3, 1 Pet 4:8, 1 Cor 13:1, Col 3:13, Rom 12:18)
a. 1 Corinthians 13:1, “If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”
b. 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.”
c. Colossians 3:13, “bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive.”
d. Romans 12:18, “If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
2. Understand Your Reality in Unity. (Vs. 4, Gal 3:27-29)
a. Galatians 3:27-29, “For those of you who were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ. There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise”
3. Let Your Christianity Demonstrate Unity. (Vs. 5; 1 Tim 6:12, 14-16a)
a. 1 Timothy 6:12, 14-16a, “ Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of eternal life to which you were called and about which you have made a good confession in the presence of many witnesses…keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ. God will bring this about in his own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light…”
4. We Are Unified in God’s Trifecta of Perfection. (Vs. 6, 1 Cor 8:5-6)
a. 1 Corinthians 8:5-6, “For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth—as there are many “gods” and many “lords”—yet for us there is one God, the Father. All things are from him, and we exist for him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through him, and we exist through him.”
