Celebrate with Sincerity
Luke 19:1-10, 36-40
1. The Work and Appeal of the Lord are Comprehensive! (Vs. 1-4, Isaiah 66:17-18)
a. Isaiah 66:17-18, “This is the Lord’s declaration. “Knowing their works and their thoughts, I have come to gather all nations and languages; they will come and see my glory.”
2. The Call of the Lord is Specific. (Vs. 5, Luke 15:3-7)
a. Luke 15:3-7, “So he told them this parable: “What man among you, who has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it? When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders, and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep!’ I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.”
3. The Lives of the Saved are Transformed. (Vs. 6-10, Matthew 7:16-17)
a. Matthew 7:16-17, “You’ll recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.”
4. Relationships with the Lord Are Obvious. (Vs. 36-40, Joshua 24:14)
a. Luke 6:45, “A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart. An evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart, for his mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”
b. Joshua 24:14, “Therefore, fear the Lord and worship him in sincerity and truth.”
