Make No Mistake
Ephesians 5:1-14
1. Christians Are Saved from Sin with a Holy Sacrifice. (Vs. 1-5, 1 Thess 5:9-10)
a. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.”
2. Don’t Be Swayed, Light and Darkness Cannot Be Partners! (Vs. 6-10, Rev 14:8-11, 2 Cor 6:14-16a)
a. Revelation 14:8-11, “And another, a second angel, followed, saying, “It has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen. She made all the nations drink the wine of her sexual immorality, which brings wrath.” And another, a third angel, followed them and spoke with a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he will also drink the wine of God’s wrath, which is poured full strength into the cup of his anger. He will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the sight of the holy angels and in the sight of the Lamb, and the smoke of their torment will go up forever and ever. There is no rest, day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or anyone who receives the mark of its name.”
b. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16a, “Do not be yoked together with those who do not believe. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God…”
3. Children of the Light Expose (Don’t Embrace) Darkness. (Vs. 11-14, 1 John 3:4-6)
a. 1 John 3:4-6, “Everyone who commits sin practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that he was revealed so that he might take away sins, and there is no sin in him. Everyone who remains in him does not sin; everyone who sins has not seen him or known him.”
