Choosing to Believe
Matthew 28:11-15
1. The Testimony of the Resurrection Has Been Told! (Matthew 28:11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
1 Corinthians 15:3-8, For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers and sisters at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one born at the wrong time, he also appeared to me.”
2. It Isn’t Hard to Find Someone Who Refuses to Believe. (Matthew 28:12-13, Matthew 27:42, Mark 9:22b-24)
Matthew 27:41-42, In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him and said, “He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
Mark 9:22b-24, [The father of the boy with an unclean spirit told Jesus] “And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.” Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”
3. Use the Faith God Gives You; It Makes Sense! (Matthew 28:13-15)
