Making Jesus Happy! (Part I)
Matthew 21:12-22
1. Things that Make God Angry:
a. The Depreciation of Worship. (Matthew 21:12, 1 Corinthians 11:17-18, Matthew 15:7-9)
1 Corinthians 11:17-18, Now in giving this instruction I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. For to begin with, I hear that when you come together as a church there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.
Matthew 15:7-9, Hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you when he said: This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. They worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines human commands.
b. The Exploitation of People. (Matthew 21:12-13, 2 Peter 2:1-3)
i. Gentiles.
ii. Travelers.
iii. Disabled.
2 Peter 2:1-3, There were indeed false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved ways, and the way of truth will be maligned because of them. They will exploit you in their greed with made-up stories. Their condemnation, pronounced long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep.
c. The Stumbling Block. (Matthew 21:13, Luke 17:1-2)
Luke 17:1-2, He said to his disciples, “Offenses will certainly come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.”
