Living as a Blessed Servant
1 Peter 2:18-25
1. Blessed (Recipients of Divine Favor) are Those who:
a. Serve with Submission. (Vs. 18)
b. Do Good for God. (Vs. 19)
c. Put God Before Personal Comfort. (Vs. 20, Luke 17:7-10)
i. Luke 17:7-10, ““Which one of you having a servant tending sheep or plowing will say to him when he comes in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? Instead, will he not tell him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, get ready, and serve me while I eat and drink; later you can eat and drink’? Does he thank that servant because he did what was commanded? In the same way, when you have done all that you were commanded, you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we’ve only done our duty.’ ””
2. Blessed is the Lord Jesus who:
a. Suffered Unjustly. (Vs. 21)
b. Suffered Silently. (Vs. 22)
c. Continually Trusted in God. (Vs. 23)
d. Died for Us to Live in Him. (Vs. 24, John 15:5)
i. John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.”
e. Is the Great Redeemer and Lord of His People. (Vs. 25; Isa 53:6)
ii. Isaiah 53:6, “We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us all.”
