The Perfection of Heaven
Matthew 22:23-33
We all know that Heaven will be perfect but that is just the start! Heaven is a place in which we will be perfected as well. It is a place were fellowship will be perfect, we will have perfect relationships, we will have perfect bodies, and we will perfectly love and be loved! Heaven isn’t the end; Heaven is a place were our blessings continue! We sing the song, “‘When we all get to Heaven’” what a day of rejoicing that will be.” Let’s start rejoicing now and looking forward to the Day of the Lord!
1. Heaven and Eternity are Testified to in Scripture and Demonstrate the Power of God. (Matthew 22:23-29, Deuteronomy 25:5-6, Isaiah 26:19, Daniel 12:2)
Deuteronomy 25:5-6, When brothers live on the same property and one of them dies without a son, the wife of the dead man may not marry a stranger outside the family. Her brother-in-law is to take her as his wife, have sexual relations with her, and perform the duty of a brother-in-law for her. The first son she bears will carry on the name of the dead brother, so his name will not be blotted out from Israel.
Isaiah 26:19, Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For you will be covered with the morning dew, and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.
Daniel 12:2, Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.
2. Heaven is a Place of Perfect Love and Relationships. (Matthew 22:30, Acts 23:8, 1 John 3:2)
Acts 23:8, For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, and neither angel nor spirit, but the Pharisees affirm them all.
1 John 3:2, Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when he appears, we will be like him because we will see him as he is.
3. Heaven is THE Place of Life with God! (Matthew 22:31-33, Luke 20:37-40, Psalm 17:15, Revelation 22:1-4)
Luke 20:37-40, [Jesus responding to the same challenge says], Moses even indicated in the passage about the burning bush that the dead are raised, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. He is not the God of the dead but of the living, because all are living to him.” Some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you have spoken well.” And they no longer dared to ask him anything.
Psalm 17:15, But I will see your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with your presence.
Revelation 21:1-4, Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.
