1 Peter 4:7-11
1. The End is Near: Pray. (Vs. 7, Luke 17:26-27, Matt 26:40-41, Eph 3:16-17)
a. Luke 17:26-27, “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: People went on eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”
b. Matthew 26:40-41, “Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
c. Ephesians 3:16-17a, “I pray that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power in your inner being through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
2. The End is Near: Love and Serve. (Vs. 8-11a, Matt 24:12, John 13:34-35)
a. Matthew 24:12, “[Speaking of the End Times Jesus Says] “Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.”
b. John 13:34-35, “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
3. The End is Near: Be Ready. (Vs. 7, 11, 1 Cor 4:1-2, Luke 12:35-37)
a. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, “A person should think of us in this way: as servants of Christ and managers of the mysteries of God. In this regard, it is required that managers be found faithful.”
b. Luke 12:35-37, “Be ready for service and have your lamps lit. You are to be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet so that when he comes and knocks, they can open the door for him at once. Blessed will be those servants the master finds alert when he comes.”
