Gigantic Examples in Small Packages
Mark 10:13-16
1. No One is an Inconvenience to Jesus. (Mark 10:13-14a, Matthew 18:10)
Matthew 18:10, See to it that you don’t despise one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of my Father in heaven.
2. The Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to Those Who
a. Are as Receptive as a Child Is. (Mark 10:15a, Acts 17:11)
Acts 17:11, The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
b. Are as Dependent as a Child Is. (Mark 10:15b, Jeremiah 17:5-8)
Jeremiah 17:5-8, This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts in mankind. He makes human flesh his strength, and his heart turns from the LORD. He will be like a juniper in the Arabah; he cannot see when good comes but dwells in the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land where no one lives. The person who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence indeed is the LORD, is blessed. He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.
3. Being with Jesus = Being Blessed. (Mark 10:16, Romans 10:11-13)
Romans 10:11-13, For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame, since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
