Daniel 4
1. Knowing About God Isn’t Knowing God. (Vs. 1-3, James 2:19)
2. Sleeping Well Doesn’t Equate to Living in Peace. (Vs. 4, Jer 6:14-15)
3. Being “Wise” Doesn’t Always Mean Knowing the Answers. (Vs. 5-18, 1 Cor 1:20-21)
4. Being Confronted by God and His Truth Requires Humility and Repentance. (Vs. 19-27, James4:6-7a, Rom 3:1, Prov 16:18-19, Matt 4:17)
a. James 4:6-7a, “But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God.”
b. Romans 13:1, “Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God.”
c. Proverbs 16:18-19, “Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly of spirit with the humble than to divide plunder with the proud.”
d. Matthew 4:17, “From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.””
5. No One is Too Great to Answer to God. (Vs. 28-33, Rom 14:10-12)
a. Romans 14:10-12, “But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”
6. No god is Greater Than Our God. (Vs. 34-37, 1 Tim 6:13-16)
a. 1 Timothy 6:13-16, “I charge you to keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ. God will bring this about in his own time. He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see, to him be honor and eternal power. Amen.”
