Inconceivable!
Joshua 5:13-6:5
1. God has Called Us to the Impossible! (Vs. 13a, Numbers 13:28, Matt 28:19-20)
a. Numbers 13:28, “However, the people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified.”
b. Matthew 28:19-20, ““All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
2. God has Called Us to Himself! (Vs. 13b-14; John 15:4-5, 10:1-4)
a. John 15:4-5, “Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.”
b. John 10:1-4, ““Truly I tell you, anyone who doesn’t enter the sheep pen by the gate but climbs in some other way is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought all his own outside, he goes ahead of them. The sheep follow him because they know his voice.”
3. God has Called us to Follow! (Vs. 13b-15, Prov 3:5-7, Gal 5:25)
a. Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.”
b. Galatians 5:25, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.”
4. God has Called us to HIS Victory! (Vs. 6:1-5, 20-21, 2 Cor 10:3-4)
a. Joshua 6:20-21, “So the troops shouted, and the ram’s horns sounded. When they heard the blast of the ram’s horns, the troops gave a great shout, and the wall collapsed. The troops advanced into the city, each man straight ahead, and they captured the city. They completely destroyed everything in the city with the sword—every man and woman, both young and old, and every ox, sheep, and donkey.”
b. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4, “For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds.”
