Living Faith
James 1:22-27
1. Blessed is the Person Who:
a) Studies the Word of God. (James 1:25)
b) Continues in the Word of God. (James 1:22-25, Psalm 1:1-2)
Psalm 1:1-2, How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
c) Holds Tightly to What He has Learned. (James 1:25b)
2) That Person’s Faith is Living and Will be Demonstrated Through:
a) Their Speech. (Internal) (James 1:26, Matthew 15:18)
Matthew 15:18, But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this defiles a person.
b) Their Love. (External) (James 1:27, 1 John 3:17-18)
1 John 3:17-18, If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him-how does God’s love reside in him? Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.
c) Their Purity. (Total) (James 1:27b, Romans 12:1-2)
Romans 12:1-2, Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
