Ready To Go!
1 Peter 1:13-21
1. Be Ready for The Revelation of Jesus Christ!
a. Prepare Your Mind. (Vs. 13a, James 5:8)
James 5:8, “You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.”
b. Be Clearly Focused. (Vs. 13b, Phil 3:13-14)
Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.”
2. Be Like Jesus; You Aren’t Alone!
a. Be Holy. (Vs. 14-16a; Rom 12:2, 14:10-12)
Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
Romans 14:10-12, “But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”
b. He is Holy. (Vs. 16-17, Rev 15:4)
Revelation 15:4, “Lord, who will not fear and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All the nations will come and worship before you because your righteous acts have been revealed.”
c. We are Saved by the Blood. (Vs. 18-19, Rom 5:8-9)
Romans 5:8-9, “But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. How much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath.”
d. He is God Himself. (Vs. 20, Psa 46:1-3)
Psalm 46:1-3, “God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble. Therefore we will not be afraid, though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas, though its water roars and foams and the mountains quake with its turmoil.”
e. Our Hope is Bigger Than Death. (Vs. 21, Rev 20:6)
Revelation 20:6, “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.”
